Dr. Haliwa's lecture will center around her research on the effects of mindfulness on psychological and physiological wellbeing. Her research has included outcomes such as depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. Dr. Haliwa will discuss her research developing a mechanistic model to explain how mindfulness might confer some of these benefits on physiological and psychological wellbeing. Finally, she will address barriers to diversity and inclusivity in existing mindfulness research and discuss future directions in expanding access to these evidence-based interventions.
